THE TOWNHOUSE POP UP AT 857 CARROLL STREET

After staging 857 Carroll Street, an incredible 115-year-old townhouse in Park Slope, Brooklyn, we asked a bunch of our favorite brands and artists to join us for a unique pop-up event where everything from the flowers and avant garde candy to fine art and antiques...to the house...was for sale.

Apoteker Tepe sold perfumes; Bellocq Tea Atelier offered teas and their new line of candles; BillyKirk brought in their wonderful canvas and leather bags and accessories; BRRCH Floral created exceptional bouquets of Italian poppies; Bradford Robotham showed his architectural photography; Crowley Vintage transformed the master suite into a vintage men's extravaganza; C.T. Bray displayed his assemblages throughout the parlor; Ian Tong's photos of Scandinavian taxidermy and French prostitutes covered the walls; Kirkland Bray's collages gave life to the teenager's bedroom; Margaux Ogden's paintings provided pointed social commentary in the master bedroom; Plant-in-City installed a massive living sculpture in the dining room; Pollaz sent her incredible Steve Zissou, Frida Kahlo and David Bowie pillows from Italy; Shigouri woodworking created beautiful chairs and cutting boards; and Sweet Saba Candy gave everyone the chance to buy keys to the house (for less than $4.9M).

Together with the Harkov Lewis Team at Halstead Property, we opened the house to friends and family the night before for a special preview. Tamworth Distilling gave us a taste of its new gin made from wild flowers grown on its farm in New Hampshire, Bellocq Tea Atelier cooked up a cocktail with their White Duke tea and Tamworth's Apiary Gin, Black Hog Brewing provided artisanal suds from Connecticut and Union Wine Co. gave us a taste of their canned Oregon wine (pinkies down!).

ANTHROPOLOGIE

Over the years, we have worked with the wonderful people at Anthropologie on a variety of incredibly fun design projects, including wallpaper, a mural, the watercolored How to Knit guide, packaging for wildflower seeds and a special handmade dollhouse that recalls Miss Havisham’s mansion at Christmas. In addition, Anthropologie hosted the New York, Los Angeles and Kansas City launch parties for our book, Heirloom Modern!

KUMI KOOKOON

Kumi Kookoon, our favorite maker of fine silk products, asked us to design a series of luxury loungewear and bedding for the Summer 2014 collection. Featuring an art deco trellis of poppy pods and super parrot tulips from Hollister’s original watercolor paintings, the print evokes history, curiosity and seduction. The print appears on Kumi Kookoon's signature mulberry silk throws, duvet covers, pillow cases, throw pillows and pillow shams, as well as a camisole, blouse, skirt, dress, robe, tap shorts and pants.

HENDRICK'S GIN

In November 2013, we teamed up with Hendrick’s Gin to throw a Masquerading Menagerie inside the magnificent theater of the Saints Peter and Paul School in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We imagined the animals of Louis XIV’s Versailles menagerie breaking out of their cages to escape wild and free into the night. Les Sans Culottes played French rock and punk while the party animals drank Hendrick’s cocktails alongside taxidermied peacocks, alligators and twinkling Christmas trees.

ONE KING'S LANE

A couple years ago we were lucky enough to curate a Tastemaker Tag Sale for our home décor heroes, One King’s Lane. We picked over 100 unique and vintage objects from our collection to be sold at auction, from mid-modern furniture to 19th century ephemera. What fun!

RALPH LAUREN VINTAGE (JAPAN)

From the Ralph Lauren Vintage Collector Profiles, we shared some of our favorite treasures from the iconic designer’s long history, not to mention our lifelong obsession with all things Ralph Lauren. The project helped launch the brand’s eCommerce site, selling vintage collectors’ pieces from the ’80s and ’90s to the Japanese market.
